The NFL and Marijuana

With the NFL draft coming up in a couple weeks, teams are trying harder than ever to uncover dirt on players. Two players have admitted to using marijuana, Mario Manningham of Michigan and Aqib Talib of Kansas. I don't really understand why using marijuana should affect your draft stock. It's not performance-enhancing. I saw one guy today comparing Manningham to Maurice Clarett- a guy who has committed armed robbery and was pulled over for an illegal u-turn while having in his possession a hatchet, an AK-47, a pistol and 2 other handguns, and an open bottle of Grey Goose vodka. Police had to chase him until he finally pulled over after running over a spike strip and then they had to subdue him, first using their tasers before switching to mace because Clarett was wearing body armor. Ricky Williams has been ostracized from the NFL for years because of marijuana use that is actually legitimized because Williams has high anxiety. Meanwhile you have guys like Leonard Little, who drove drunk and killed someone and has since driven drunk, being allowed to still play. What's wrong with this picture?

Words To Live By

A good friend of mine that I used to work with had a party last night.

It was there I learned not to pile on a bunch of gin after piling on a bunch of beer.

NFL Rule Changes

The NFL owners voted today on some rule changes.

The ones that passed were:

Elimination of the force out rule.
-Defenders can now push receivers out of bounds to prevent them from making a catch.

Elimination of 5-yard face mask rule.
-All violations are now 15 yard penalties.

One defensive player can now wear a radio headset.
-One offensive player could wear a headset already.

Review of field goals now allowed.
-This rule change stemmed from a couple crazy kicks last year that appeared to bounce in and out of the uprights. This will ensure that all FG calls are correct.

Of all the rules, the only one that I don't particularly like is the elimination of the force out. Sure, it was cloudy because it was up to interpretation of the officials, but without it, those glorious tiptoe sideline catches will be all but gone for good.

Rad street art

Someone made this bear that inflates when the Subway passes underneath it. I thought it was neat.
